squash and stretch exercise

This a simple exercise of squash and stretch, showing the principle   and rules over a bouncing ball and how it doesn't stay the same thought the bounce.

Fat Viking Walking Cycle

Here I have tried to improve the cape and giving the cape a natural flow and lined up the feet and keeping the feet the same size. Which took a while to figure out how it would work and when the cape should go up and catch the wind. But I don't think its quite right yet and I think Ill go back again and see what I could do to make the cape better.

Bouncing Ball 1

This is just a simple bouncing ball exercise to show that we understand "squash and  stretch".
This was pretty Simple and didn't take me to long to do, the only difficulty was how much distortion i should put on the ball. To improve my ball i could clean up some of the lines better.

viking walk

This is my first walk with my Viking character. I need to improve the cape and arm as they don't have a natural flow.

Bear Pointing

This is my final submission to the bear  pointing exercise  with finalised lines and with all the positions put correctly and everything put together.
I found parts of this exercise was keeping every thing the same but I think I did okay.

Character Design part 5

This was development more of my talk thin person, as you can see from my last character design update I know have a more finalised design which I took little elements from each of my ideas and came up with this.

He will be a side partener for the other character I designed .
This is development of my character design where I didn't consider some key points of my side view of the character. For example I didn't really give this a rib cage so he would just disappear off screen if he had a side view.

Also I also gave him thicker legs and redesigned his shoulder pad because it didn't look right from what angle I give it before.
These are quick facial expression designs and playing about the idea of giving him hair.

Walk Exercise

This is my first attempt at a walk cycle, I found this really hard at first and try to keep it quite simple. I found this difficult because you had to think of a lot of things for each frame, for example, how far down would the body be or where the arm would be for that frame and how the foot would look for this frame and so on.
After doing a could of frames I started to get the hang of it.

But I think I shall do another just a stick figure because then I can work more on my body Sharpe's and get a more realistic walk.

Ball Exercise

This was my first bouncing ball exercise and my first time using any sort of animation software and trying to ever animate. Its has a lot of problems with the animation but for my first time I don't think its half bad. Our task was to roll a ball off of a building or a cliff and depending on what ball you drew, depended on the bonce and the outcome of the ending. I went for a bowling ball because I knew that it wouldn't bonce at all and just smash in to the ground. I found that to make the ball smother I had to add a lot of frames in to give it a better roll but also at the same time try and think of the placing of the three holes would go and when they would spin, while also thing about high lights.
I think I will go back and to this task again with a different ball and see how the different outcome would be and if it would roll or drop faster.

Head Turn (Boy)

This is my third attempt at the head turn project, in which I made this one very simple and basic, but spent time trying to get all correct, which I didn't but I still I learnt from doing this one and it was the closet one to the brief. I will come back again to this task and do it again to get the perfect head turn.

Inbetween Bear

What we had to we was draw the in-betweens for the bear pointing, as assistant would.

I found getting started the hardest work because it was a lot of guess work at the first in between but once you've got that down then the second in between is a lot quicker to do. Also looking at my final one, I can see that the lines at different shades and the thickness is off but I don't know if it is because the original three key frames are hand drawn and mine is done on flip book and also I will go back in to this piece and add more frames to make it even smoother because I think its still a bit jerky.

Head Turn ( owl )

This was my second attempted at the head turn a  task. This time I went a for a more simple design with the character design, which helped a lot with making the character the same though out but then I still have a native to the head turn because you still couldn't focus on the  head turn it's self. so you couldn't see if I did anything wrong or could improve it. But this head  did help a lot became I learnt more about the program and animating in general.

Head Turn

This was my first attempt of any sort of animation. The animation is only a second long of  a head turn, but did over make it header for my self because of I over thought it and made its a lot more than what I was asked to. I did this by putting detail and native to the animation and you don't really see what I was asked to do. overall I like the animation but I need to cean the lines up and do another head turn because you don't really see the head turn in my animation.

Charater design part 4

I finally came with a few ideas for my second character, which ties in with my fat character as well with I was very happy with. I started off with playing about the idea up of having him very lanky and skinny, so he would be the complete opposite of the other character.

The problem was that I was making him to brooded and not skinny enough..... so I went back and tried a 2 minute sketch of what I wanted, just a scribble, something I could work from. Which actually work and gave me the guide I need to get a real design down.

Charater Design part 3

Theses  are sketches of me playing round with the design for the skinny tall character.
I really couldn't get inspiration or get a design that I could use or really liked. This started to really bug me so I left the design for a bit and forgot about the design other wise it just wasn't going to happen.

Character Design part 2

As you can see I simplified my design by a lot and think the design looks a lot more appealing  to a 5-8 years old eye, in which  the character would have more blocked colours and less detail and shows to give the design a more child like feel.

Character Designs

Character Design

This was my first design of my character design, which we were asked to design a character for a 5-8 year old t.v show. In I designed a fat little Viking.

After showing my first character design, I was made a where , that my design was to detailed and seemed more like a book illustration and not a character design for a animation.

I still really loved the design so I went back and tried to do a more simple design and add what ive learnt from this and put the stills in to my next design .
